Age: any, up to 18. Sex: any. Healthy volunteers: accepted.

You may qualify if…

• tonsillectomy with or without adenoidectomy
• under the age of 18

You may not qualify if…

• penicillin allergy
• took antibiotics within 7 days of surgery
• medical comorbidity requiring treatment with antibiotics
